Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)- The Cordillera Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC-CAR) chaired by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) here concluded the 2024 Women’s Month celebration on 26 March 2024 by recognizing partners and stakeholders who have taken part in the Region’s continuous advocacy for gender equality and inclusivity.

“The recurring theme for 2023-2028 encapsulates the essence of our collective journey towards a more equitable and inclusive society, where the capabilities and contributions of women across all sectors are not only acknowledged but celebrated and honored. I thank everyone for all your support, participation, and most especially your contributions in the month-long celebration of Women’s Month. I believe that by coming together, we were able to maximize our reach and impact”, DSWD CAR OIC Regional Director and RGADC Chairperson Enrique H. Gascon, Jr. said in his message.

Baguio City Women and Disability Organization Vice-President Jennifer Fernandez and HAPIYO MI Culture and Arts Center, Inc. Executive Director Dr. Maria Catbagan Aplaten shared their stories to provide inspiration. Winners of the recently concluded Mobile Photography Contest and RGADC CAR Logo Making contest were also recognized. Logo conceptualized by Jet Lee Gamayo of Tadian, Mountain Province was chosen as the winner. Winners of the mobile photography contests are Gai-gai Clare Sudkaren of Paracelis, Mt. Province (1stPlace), Hazeline Gumatay of Tanudan, Kalinga (2nd Place), and Dhenabhel Tangkawan of Sadanga, Mt. Province.

Meanwhile, the Committee also welcomed the newest addition to the Regional Pool of GAD Resource Persons (RPGRP) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The RPGRP was conceptualized to enhance the gender and development mainstreaming efforts in the region. It was intended to be an extension of the Philippine Commission on Women National Pool of GAD Resource Persons.

New members of the RPGRP include Roselle Camte-Bahni of Igorota Foundation, Inc., Jam Balingan of Agriculture Training Institute- CAR and Sherwin Luglug of DepEd Ifugao Schools Division Office.

The MOA signing was witnessed by DSWD OIC Director Gascon, RGADC Co-Chairperson Dr. Ferdinand P. Gonzales and Commission on Population OIC Assistant Regional Director Job David Manalang representing Dir. Cecile Aguilan- Basawil.

This year’s celebration is still consistent to the recurring theme “WE for gender equality and inclusive society”.
