Bontoc, Mt. Province—The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-CAR, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) to establish a partnership which aims to enhance the provision of services for the SLP participants. The MOA also stipulates that the DSWD-CAR will tap the MPSPC as its training service provider upon the completion of training services to the faculty and researchers of MPSPC.

In a ceremonial signing of the MOA on 08 January 2024, DSWD-CAR Concurrent OIC-Regional Director (RD) and Assistant RD for Operations Enrique H. Gascon, Jr. met with MPSPC President Dr. Edgar G. Cue to discuss the details of the agreement, which enjoins both parties to work together, from the planning to the conduct and the monitoring and evaluation of related seminars and workshops in the school within five years.

“We are going beyond the usual by leveraging this kind of partnership with the academe,” DSWD-CAR Concurrent OIC-Regional Director (RD) and Assistant RD for Operations Enrique H. Gascon, Jr. said. He added that this will entail employing the expertise of the MPSPC personnel for related capacity-building activities in the future.

Further, he stated that this means offering unique services as well as sound monitoring and evaluation while emphasizing the sustainability aspect of the project that will hopefully help mobilize the needed improvements in the education sector now and in the future.

Meanwhile, MPSPC President Dr. Edgar G. Cue stressed the need to review and share data through the partnership, which he sees to be able to greatly contribute to the academe while also strengthening the research and development capabilities of the community.

With the aim to help improve local educators’ work efficiency and professional growth, DSWD-CAR and MPSPC will be sharing their resources and other collaborative means in order to advance their programs through infusion of technologies and skills enhancement.

As it ensures the timeliness and efficient implementation of the initiative, DSWD-CAR underscores its utmost support to the academe through active partnerships such as this as well as meeting the training needs and demands of stakeholders. ###DSWD-CAR Social Marketing Unit – Christian Robert M.
