Cordillera Administrative Region- The Department of Social Welfare and Development here has resumed the validation of Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) Listahanan beneficiaries in the region in preparation for the release of cash grants through cash cards.

The validation activity which began last quarter of 2020 has yielded to the successful verification of 32,600 UCT Listahanan beneficiaries out of the total 44,674 target beneficiaries. The remaining 12,074 beneficiaries are expected to be validated before April 30 2021.

Beneficiaries per province are 6,906 for Abra, 5,049 for Apayao, 12,221 for Benguet, 7,152 for Ifugao, 7,750 for Kalinga and 5,596 for Mountain Province.

The Department has hired validators assigned around the region to undertake the validation process which includes the taking of pictures, valid identification card, and birth certificate of the beneficiaries.

The shift from the over the counter pay-out scheme to the use of cash cards as mode of release is the Department’s response to the ongoing health protocols being implemented in the country which disallows mass gathering.

As for the UCT Social Pension beneficiaries, cash cards will also be used to release their grants.

Cash Grants for both UCT Listahanan and UCT Social Pension beneficiaries are expected to be released before the end of the first semester of this year.

The UCT is the Government’s three-year program was mandated under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law. The law directs the provision of cash assistance worth Php 200 per month for 2018, and Php 300 per month for 2019 and 2020 to selected beneficiaries.

The list of beneficiaries came from the 2015  National Household Targeting System list of poor and near poor.
