The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD FO CAR) through its Social Welfare and Development Offices in Kalinga and Mountain Province have extended assistance to the families of the thirteen individuals who have been involved in the vehicular accident that occurred in Bolo, Tabuk City, Kalinga on 18 April 2021.

As of 26 April 2021, DSWD FO CAR was able to release a total amount of PhP 130,000.00 financial assistance to the families. Of this, PhP 50,000.00 was released for the survivors of the five fatalities from Tadian, Mountain Province, and PhP 80,000.00 were provided to the families of the eight fatalities from Tabuk City, Kalinga.

The DSWD FO CAR has released total of twelve (12) family food packs and four (4) hygiene kits to four (4) families from Kalinga Province. Total of eight (8) family food packs and two (2) hygiene kits were provided to two (2) families in Tadian, Mountain Province.

The assistance provided by the DSWD FO CAR is a form of augmentation support to the Local Government Units in response to the immediate needs of the grieved families.

The DSWD FO CAR is also processing the burial assistance for the deceased amounting to PhP 247,600.00 which will be directly paid to the Tabuk Multi-Purpose Cooperative as the service provider.

Aside from the assistance from DSWD FO CAR, the Office of the President has allotted PhP 120,000.00 or 20,000.00 assistance to each family.

The LGUs have already provided transportation assistance to the families. Additional assistance from the LGU will be processed once “ngilin”  or the families’ mourning of nine days is over.

Prior the release of these assistance, the DSWD FO CAR has also provided psychosocial intervention to the families. This is given to individuals who have undergone traumatic experiences to help them cope with its impact. Interventions usually involve counselling, and acceptance and behavioral therapy which aim to manage the psychological and behavioral response of these individuals to the situation.
