The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) will conduct “PaskuJuan” on 30 November 2014.

The PaskuJuan is a nation-wide holiday bazaar which aims to showcase the products and skills of the Sustainable Livelihood Program participants who are also Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries. These participants have undergone the micro-enterprise development track of the SLP. Through this track, participants have undergone various capacity building activities including project proposal making and skills enhancement trainings to ensure that they can manage their micro-enterprise well.

“Around 100 program participants will be joining the PaskuJuan and their products like handicrafts, food items and potted plants will be traded in the bazaar”, SLP Project Development Officer Florence Baguilat shared.

Meanwhile, DSWD-CAR OIC Regional Director encouraged the public to visit the one-day holiday bazaar at SM City Baguio. “We would like to encourage everybody to support the PaskuJuan because this will help our partner-beneficiaries in marketing their products. And we hope that through this, their micro-enterprise will grow into something bigger”, Director Armas added.

The Sustainable Livelihood Program is one of the poverty reduction programs of the Department which aims to economically capacitate Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries through the Community Driven Enterprise Development (CDED) approach. Aside from the micro-enterprise development track, SLP also implements the employment facilitation track which aims to help get skilled program participants employed.

In the Cordillera Administrative Region, there are already 13,201 households who have availed of the services of the SLP, 658 households of which are from Baguio City. # DSWD-CAR, SOCIAL MARKETING UNIT, Nerizza Faye G. Villanueva
