Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Department of Social Welfare and Development organized community assembly in Brgy. Poblacion, Tinglayan to validate and register the new set Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries in the area.

213 beneficiaries were validated and registered out of the 244 beneficiaries listed for the Set 7 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya. There were 12 marked as inclusion error and 3 double entries.

Inclusion error is when an individual is selected as a beneficiary but ineligible to receive the Program’s benefits.  The double entry case is when a household has two listed names in the registered set of beneficiaries.  These cases merit a delisting of household as Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries.

16 households were not able to attend the community assembly to register themselves due to the ongoing tribal conflict in the area. The Pantawid Pamilya staff will instead conduct a house-to-house validation to register the 16 affected households.

Cresilda Malsi Magangat, a housewife whose husband is a farmer, walked from Sumadel I to Poblacion, Tinglayan to grab this new opportunity for her family.

“I woke up early because we need to walk 3 hours to get here but it was worth it,” she said.

Willia Bulawit Appol from Basao, Tinglayan, who has four kids of Ifasao tribe, is now looking forward for the new future of her family.

“The grants will be very helpful for the studies of my children.  We can now buy the materials they needed for schooling”, she said.

As of August 14, 2013, there are now 10,095 beneficiaries in the Kalinga province. In the Cordillera Administrative Region, there are 57,219 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries. #DSWD-CAR, SOCIAL MARKETING UNIT, Jomel Anthony V. Gutierrez
