The NCDDP which will be officially launched by the end of 2013 is the scale-up of the operations of the community-driven development (CDD) approach utilized by Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) Project.

Through CDD, communities actively and directly participate in local governance by identifying their own community needs, planning, implementing, and monitoring projects. This empowers local citizens in addressing local poverty issues.

In CAR, the Kalahi-CIDSS Project covers 253 barangays and has granted 93 sub-projects in the region. This number is expected to increase with the expansion under the NCDDP.# DSWD-CAR, SOCIAL MARKETING UNIT, MAYROSE F. URBANO
