Baguio City–Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program household beneficiaries who have religiously followed the conditions of the Program and have demonstrated adopting the values inculcated in the Family Development Sessions (FDS) were recognized during the Department of Social Welfare and Development- Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR) Regional Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya.
Provincial winners of the competition from Abra, Benguet, Mt. Province, Apayao and Ifugao competed for the Grand Prize award of eighteen thousand pesos (Php 18,000.00) and the chance to represent the region in the National Search to be held in Manila this coming October.
To ensure fairness of the selection of winners, the Department invited three special judges. TV Patrol Northern Luzon Anchor Mr. Dhobie de Guzman, Department of Education, Health and Nutrition Unit Head, Dr. Juliet B. Pontino and Director Virginia G. Gelacio of Serving Neighbors Network selected the winners of the Regional Search.
The Family of Teresa Lumigat from Asipulo, Ifugao was awarded as the Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya of the Cordillera Administrative Region. They received a plaque, certificate and eighteen thousand pesos for winning the title. The 43 year-old mother of three and who works as a farmer was joined by her husband Mr. Pedro Lumigat and son, Kimm Lumigat during the search. The family is very active in different community activities and in practicing and advocating the lessons taught by the Pantawid Pamilya during FDS.
The province of Apayao took home the 1st Prize award. Mr. and Mrs. Danilo Pascua of Conner, Apayao and their daughter Charmaine Pascua received fifteen thousand pesos (Php 15,000.00), plaque, and certificate.
The 2nd Prize was awarded to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Isaias Palonga of Besao, Mt. Province. They took home a cash prize of 12,000.00, plaque and certificate.
The two provinces, Abra (Mr. and Mrs. Luisito and Consuelo Dion) and Benguet (Mr. and Mrs. Viole and Annabelle Felix) took home the fourth and third prize respectively with five thousand pesos prize each.
The Lumigat Family will compete with other Huwarang Pamilya winners from the various regions in the country for the National Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya title. # DSWD-CAR, SOCIAL MARKETING UNIT, JOMEL ANTHONY V. GUTIERREZ
