The SFP is the nutrition-specific program of the Department that provides fortified meals for 180 days in the form of hot meals or alternative food products and fresh milk or fresh milk-based products to children currently enrolled in LGU-run CDCs and SNPs as the Department’s contribution in the implementation of the PPAN in line with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal No. 2 or the Zero Hunger of the United Nations.
As one of the nutrition specific program of the Department, the SFP aims to address undernutrition among Filipino children ages 2 to 5 years old by contributing to the desired outcome in the PPAN Outcome Result Statement 1: Healthier Diets – Filipino consume and demand adequate, age-appropriate, nutrient-dense, diverse, affordable, safe and sustainable diet by increasing the availability of food in the community particularly in Child Development Centers (CDCs) and Supervised Neighborhood Playgroups (SNPs).
