Seven exemplary children of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) from the different provinces of the Cordillera were recognized in this year’s 4Ps National Children’s Congress (NCC) in observance of the annual National Children’s Month held on 18-22 November 2024 in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Proudly donned in their Cordillera ethnic attires, the seven 4Ps exemplary children showcased their skills, talents, and stories of triumphs, hopes, and aspirations as 4Ps beneficiaries and as members of their community through their active participation in the series of workshops, talks on children laws, gender and development, and children disability affairs program.

This year’s delegates from the region were led by Ehrald Jake Hosana, the 2024 Regional Exemplary Child from Luna, Apayao. He was joined by the provincial exemplary children: Jann Aleiyah Florendo of Malibcong, Abra; Jhann Rhaynn Garcia of Baguio City; Framie Joy Ballogan of Hingyon, Ifugao; Jeth Sawattang of Tinglayan, Kalinga; Tenesse Fay Talidtid ng Tadian, Mt. Province; and Mark Allan Bao-id from Tublay, Benguet who represented the Child with Disability sector.

The 4Ps children-beneficiaries were recognized for exemplifying outstanding qualities in their homes, schools, and communities by performing beyond fulfilling the program’s condition on education, health, and nutrition.

Moreover, the children were also able to learn the rich history of Cebu through educational tour to various tourist sites in the city. The four-day event concluded with an awarding ceremony wherein the children received plaque and certificate of recognition.

During the culmination activity on 21 November 2024, the exemplary presented their output focusing on different advocacies such as anti-bullying, ending teenage pregnancy, environmental protection, and other initiatives that protect and promote the rights of children.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us and it is a very good platform for our voices to be heard. We really enjoyed the activity and as an Exemplary Child, I will continue to advocate for the protection of the environment,” Ehrald Jake Hosanna shared.

Led by the DSWD, NCC is an annual gathering of 4Ps exemplary children from all over the country to share their stories, learn from different topics on children’s rights and advocacies, and prepare materials/manifesto which can help legislators to formulate initiatives & laws that safeguard children and help them become more responsible members of the society. ### DSWD-CAR Social Marketing Unit – Marlo C.
