One hundred forty three (143) local laborers from Barangay Haliap, Asipulo, Ifugao came together and completed 870 meters of the programmed 770 meters construction of Panacligan-Dummungaw sledge trail.
Using the Community Driven Development approach of the program, the community themselves identified the construction of the sledge trail-a trail that can fit motorcycles to pass through the mountains, to facilitate the transport of their farm produce to the market. Participation of women laborers was highly encouraged resulting in 92 women joining the 51 men laborers. They were able to complete the construction in ten days which would usually take up to 20 days. Being the direct beneficiaries of the program, the community decided to render a one day free labor amounting to Php 54,350.00, with one representative from each household.
From an existing footpath, the laborers manually excavated the soil and loose rocks for widening. This way, they will be able to avoid spoilage of their farm produce from the manual hauling. Aside, it will also facilitate the provision of social services and disaster response to the residents.

“They rendered their best para matapos ng mas mabilis ang project and I’m really happy kasi makikita mo sa kanila na hindi yung sahod ang interes nila kundi sa purpose ng project. Sa kanilang pagtutulungan, nahigitan pa sa naka program ang tinapos nila.” shared Rhonalyn B. Lacumba, Community Empowerment Facilitator assigned in Barangay Haliap.
The said project was implemented under the Department of Social Welfare and Development Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay Cash for Work (DSWD KALAHI-CIDSS KKB-CFW) Program. The program is a cash support in exchange for the agreed community work rendered. It aims to provide a short-term intervention through temporary employment for no income or low income families.
