With the severe devastation brought about by Typhoon Yolanda in Leyte Province, the Department of Social Welfare and Development- Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR) will provide augmentation to areas extremely affected by the said calamity.

“The DSWD-CAR, together with the other field offices of the Department will extend assistance to Typhoon Yolanda victims not just by providing relief goods, but we are sending our personnel to give service to the victims.” DSWD- CAR Regional Director Leonardo C. Reynoso said.

DSWD-CAR personnel will be travelling to Tacloban, Leyte by batches consisting of ten (10) individuals per batch. The first batch has already travelled to Leyte and is expected to provide support in the relief operations in Tacloban City. Moreover, social workers from the DSWD-CAR will also be augmenting to provide stress de-briefing and other psycho-social services to the typhoon victims.

“We anticipate that with this kind of damage that the typhoon has brought, it is not enough to just give commodities to the people, but we need to help them get back to their feet and have hope again.”, Reynoso added.

On the other hand, 23 houses and 3 day care centers in the municipalities of Bauko and Tadian have been partially damaged due the strong wind brought by Typhoon Yolanda. With this, there are 20 families in Bauko and 3 families from Tadian who have been affected. The DSWD-CAR has already provided 100 relief packs to the affected families in these municipalities. # DSWD-CAR Social Marketing Unit
