Baguio City – Dubbed as “Little Miss Korina Sanchez” because of her impressive skills in delivering news report, Jairuz Mae Djemetzchel B. Castillo was adjudged as 2nd Placer during the National Search for Pantawid Pamilya Exemplary Children at Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
An estimated 175 Exemplary Children of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program from seventeen regions gathered at PICC last October 22-25 for the second National Children’s Congress (NCC) of the Program. One of the highlights of this year’s NCC is the Search for National Exemplary Pantawid Children. Six children beneficiaries aged 10-14 years old from Region V, Region VIII, Region IV-A, Region IV-B, CAR, and Region I were chosen by a panel of judges as national top six finalists and competed for the title National Pantawid Pamilya Exemplary Child with Php 30,000.00 cash prize. To win the grand prize, the finalists went through a panel interview and they also showcased their special talents.
Jairuz Mae of Tayum, Abra, a Grade V pupil from Don Marcos Rosales Elementary School, demonstrated her talent in broadcasting and delivered the latest development in the implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program which is the expansion of its children beneficiaries’ coverage from 0-14 years old to 0-18 years old in 2014.
Jairuz received a cash prize of twenty-thousand pesos and a plaque. On the other hand, the finalist from Region IV-B won the grand prize and was named National Exemplary Pantawid Pamilya Child.
An eldest daughter of a farmer and Parent Leader, Jairuz’ biggest dream is to become a teacher. “I want to become a teacher so that I can share my knowledge to other children in the future”, she said.
After winning the search, Jairuz was congratulated by Abra Governor Eustaquio Bersamin and was also given a cash reward.
