The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD FO CAR) is looking for poor but deserving students under its Government Internship Program (GIP). The GIP is one of the components of the Kabataan 2000 Program which aims to offer the youth an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Government context while earning income.

In the Region, there are 75 vacant slots for the said program, of which, 15 will be assigned in the regional office and 10 will be designated in each Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Office in the provinces of the region.

“Although the GIP has been a regular program of the Government which may financially help our disadvantaged students, in DSWD, we are providing this opportunity for the youth to be part of a noble cause- that is to serve their own communities and be part of their development ”, DSWD FO CAR Regional Director Maria A. Catbagan-Aplaten shared.

Through the GIP, the youth participants will be given the opportunity to perform office work in support to the implementation of DSWD programs and services and work with communities where DSWD programs or projects are implemented in partnership with the local government units (LGUs). Youth hired under the GIP will stay with the Department for 30 working days and will receive a stipend amounting to 75% of the regional minimum salary which is of PhP 285.00 per day.

The said Program is open to incoming 3rd and 4th year college students who are 18- 25 years old whose family’s monthly income does not exceed the existing Philippine Statistics Authority regional poverty threshold amounting to PhP 13,239.00. Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) Members will be prioritized.
