On 7 February 2025, the Happy Hallow Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (SLPA) received recognition from the Department of Education Cordillera Administrative Region (DepEd CAR) for their contribution to the successful implementation of the Farm School Program at Happy Hallow National High School. The SLPA is located at Purok 1, Happy Hallow, Baguio City, started by a group of determined individuals who came together with a shared vision to establish a sustainable livelihood that not only benefits their members but also contributes to the development of their community. The Happy Hallow Agriculture SLPA was organized in November 2022.
With the support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Association launched chicken egg production as their microenterprise. The investment of Php 450,000 from the Seed Capital Fund enabled the members to construct their poultry facility and obtain necessary operational resources before launching their commercial egg business. Presently the Association maintains 30 dedicated members who successfully operate a successful poultry business and conduct charitable work.
The Happy Hallow Agriculture SLPA leads its activities with the dual vision of community expansion and monetary growth. To enhance practical education efforts, they offered their poultry facility as an educational experience to Happy Hallow National High School students, specifically those in Grades 11 and 12.
The students received firsthand experience in poultry management and marketing strategies at the Happy Hallow Agriculture SLPA. Practical learning gives students important abilities they can apply later in professional paths as well as business ownership.
The Association devotes itself to supporting activities that exceed student education goals. Aside from the learning experience they also provide chicken manure to the School’s garden to develop organic farming systems and support the Campus’ sustainability efforts. The Organization permanently dedicated its support to the school by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to provide help in any possible way.
The Happy Hallow Agriculture SLPA received recognition for their work because of their school partnership and important community development activities. The organization conveyed their thanks during the time of ceremony recognitions.
“We, the Happy Hallow Agriculture SLPA, take pride in being an official partner of this school. The students of Happy Hallow National High School received access to our poultry farm specifically targeting students from Grades 11 and 12. The students undergo training in poultry care and product marketing at our facility. The project includes donating chicken droppings to assist the school in developing their garden. Through a MOA we officially dedicated our commitment to provide any available support for the school.” said the president of Happy Hallow Agriculture SLPA, Mr. Marcelino D. Ciano as he received the award.
Success for the Happy Hallow Agriculture SLPA occurs through more than numbers as it affects the lives of individuals. Sustainable livelihood initiatives under their leadership prove able to establish permanent societal changes by uniting economic development with collaborative partnership opportunities for the future. Through its ongoing commitment to mission work the organization demonstrates how community core engagement produces social developments in society.#DSWD-CAR, SOCIAL MARKETING UNIT, Joanna Marie M.
