From fun games to creative performances and other engaging activities, the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Field Office – Cordillera Adminsitrative Region (DSWD FO CAR) celebrated memorable and enjoyable year-end events for residents of its Center and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs) with the theme: “Pasko ng Pag-aaruga, Mainit na Pagkalinga Para sa Bagong Taong Masigla.”
True to its mission of fostering care and hope, the DSWD brought the spirit of renewal to kids and youth from the Regional Haven for Women and Girls (RHWG), Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY), and Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) which were highlighted through special performances, exciting synergy and sharing of messages of hope and well wishes that uplifted everyone’s spirits.
In her inspirational talk, DSWD FO CAR Regional Director Maria A. Catbagan-Aplaten reminded the centers’ residents and staff alike to refocus on what truly matters. “Our relationships, our well-being, and the pursuit of meaningful goals not just for our families but for the people around us,” she said.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa experience at sa gifts na natanggap ko. Nadama ko ang diwa ng pasko, sobrang saya po; sa simpleng bagay ay marami kayong napasaya. (I am very grateful for the experience and the gifts which I have received. I felt the essence of Christmas, it is very joyful; you have made many of us happy with these simple activities),” said “Vincent”, a resident of RRCY.In the spirit of the season, gifts, tokens, treats and sweets were given out which helped light up the faces of the residents during the series of celebration, which showcased the residents’ renewed sense of hope and optimism for 2025 and underscored the DSWD FO CAR’s steadfast commitment to protecting and empowering those in its care.//### Christian Robert M.
