After a series of deliberation and validation at the municipal and provincial levels, beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) from the different provinces of the Cordillera get ready for the coveted Regional Search for 4Ps Huwarang Pamilya and Exemplary Child set on 25 July 2024 in Baguio City.

Seven entries have been selected to compete for the 4Ps Huwarang Pamilya title. They were chosen through the provincial searches conducted by the DSWD CAR in each province. The family of Jennyfler Gines will represent the province of Abra, Perlita Vea family for Apayao, Melicia Tojas family for Baguio City, Carolyn Tongalag family for Benguet, Peter Puh-hay family for Ifugao, Lydia Baluga family for Kalinga, and Simon Bastog family for Mountain Province.

On the other hand, Jann Aleiyah Florendo of Abra, Ehrald Jake Hosana of Apayao, Jhann Rhaynn of Baguio, Leslie Ann Onsie of Benguet, Framie Joy Ballongan of Ifugao, and Jeth Sawattang of Kalinga, and Tenesse Talidtid of Mountain Province, will compete for the 4Ps Exemplary Child title.

The finalists will undergo one-on-one interview with the invited panel of judges from the National Government Agencies and other partners. The nomination documents of the entries will also be reviewed through desk validation.

The 2024 Huwarang Pamilya and Exemplary Child of CAR will represent the region in the National 4Ps Huwarang Pamilya recognition and National Children’s Congress slated in September and November, respectively, this year.

The winners will serve as family and children ambassadors of the Program and they will help in championing the Program’s advocacies on education, health, nutrition, and promote gender and development in the Cordillera communities. The winners will also receive cash prizes and certificates of recognition.

Now on its 9th year, the Regional Search is held annually as a platform to showcase and recognize the success stories of family and children-beneficiaries who maintain strong family ties, demonstrate positive Filipino values in their household, school, and have a positive impact in the community. The search, however, was halted from 2020-2022 due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The 4Ps, led by the DSWD, was institutionalized in 2019 by virtue of Republic Act 11310 as the government’s major poverty alleviation program that invests in the health, nutrition, education, and psycho-social development of the beneficiaries. The program ensures that the beneficiaries will have the capacity to live a decent life and are ready to exit within seven years as mandated by the law. ### DSWD-CAR Social Marketing Unit – Marlo C.
