After being halted for three years due to the pandemic, the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD FO CAR) through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) has once again recognized its exemplary partner beneficiaries through the Search for 4Ps Huwarang Pamilya and Exemplary Child which was conducted on 3 August 2023 at the City Travel Hotel, Baguio City.
The 4Ps Huwarang Pamilya title was awarded to the family of Emilia Dinamling from Kiangan, Ifugao, while Zarah Mae Comiles of Itogon, Benguet, was named the 4Ps Exemplary Child.
“These beneficiaries are worthy of recognition. They have been serving as partners of the program with their simple acts of hard work, grit, determination, and courage in their respective communities,” said DSWD FO CAR Regional Director Leo Quintilla.
RD Quintilla further encouraged the beneficiary participants to continue their hard work and exemplify the true spirit of positive Filipino values in their communities. He also encouraged the exemplary children to study well and continue to reach for their dreams.
The families of Maribel Balcita of Baguio City and Saly Briones of Sta. Marcela, Apayao bagged the 2nd and 3rd places, respectively. The other finalists who got the consolation prizes were: Rosalie Kacayon’s Family of Barlig, Mt. Province; Lolita Baesa’s Family of Licuan-Baay, Abra; Catalina Ortiga’s Family of Tuba, Benguet; and Bernize T. Kinao’s from Tanudan, Kalinga.
For the Exemplary Children, Danica Chorpangan of Natonin, Mt. Province and Remalyn Aguilar of Pudtol, Apayao got the 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.The other finalists who brought home the consolation prizes were: Dencio DJ Dinamling of Asipulo, Ifugao; Jane Venus of La Paz, Abra; Roxanne Bosway of Baguio City; and Cloeth Joy Yacapin of Rizal, Kalinga.
Prior to the awarding, a desk validation, talent presentation, and question and answer were conducted with the provincial families and children-winners, together with an invited panel of judges from the partner agencies of the DSWD.
The invited panel of judges were Dr. Anachris Kilakil from the Department of Health-CAR, Maria Aprila Cruz from the Philippine Information Agency, and Ms. Joanne Ligante from 4Ps Regional Program Management Office of DSWD FO CAR.
The 4Ps Huwarang Pamilya and Exemplary Child Grand winners received cash prizes and plaques. They will serve as ambassadors of the program in the Cordillera.
Meanwhile, the 2nd and 3rd places were awarded with cash prizes and plaques. All the finalists received consolation cash prizes and certificates of recognition.
Now on its 8th year, the search for 4Ps Huwarang Pamilya and Exemplary Children is conducted annually as a platform to showcase the success stories of family and children-beneficiaries who maintain strong family ties, demonstrate positive Filipino values in their household, school, and have a positive impact in the community.
The family of Emilia Dinamling and Exemaplary child Zarah Mae Comiles will represent the region in the National Huwarang Pamilya recognition and National Children’s Congress slated in September and November this year.
The 4Ps, led by the DSWD, was institutionalized in 2019 by virtue of Republic Act 11310 as the government’s major poverty alleviation program that invests in the health, nutrition, education, and psycho-social development of the beneficiaries.
