Cordillera Administrative Region- The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD FO CAR) has welcomed new officers of the federated association of Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE).
Coming from different Local Government Units, new set of MOVE Cordillera Officers took their oath on 11 March 2026, during the Regional Inter-Agency 1st Quarter Meeting. The Officers were inducted by DSWD FO CAR OIC Assistant Regional Director for Operations Mary Ann G. Buclao.
In 2023, the Regional Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children – Cordillera Administrative Region (RCAT-VAWC CAR) issued Resolution No. 01, s. 2023, which encouraged Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and Local Government Units (LGUs) to organize their own MOVE chapters. This initiative was supported by the Regional Development Council – Cordillera Administrative Region through the issuance of RDC Resolution No. 68, s. 2023.
As a result, Provincial Local Government Units (PLGUs) and the Highly Urbanized City of Baguio City strengthened and organized their respective MOVE organizations as partners in advocating against all forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
On 4 February 2026, the Provincial Government of Kalinga sponsored the first Inter-Provincial MOVE consultative meeting, during which the provincial MOVE groups were federated to strengthen regional coordination and advocacy efforts.
As of 23 March 2026, there are a total of 40 MOVE chapters in the Cordillera Region. Of which, 11 chapters are in Mountain Province, nine (9) in Ifugao and seven (7) each in Benguet and Kalinga. Meanwhile, seven (7) Regional Line Agencies have also established their MOVE chapters. These agencies include the DSWD, Police Regional Office CAR, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Commission on Audit, Department of Health, National Telecommunications Commission, and Department of Science and Technology. For the academe, Benguet State University and Kalinga State University have also supported the establishment of their association.
Newly-elected officials include President Harold Wallace for Benguet, Vice President June Pinayakan of Mountain Province, Secretary Ptr. Dandy Dangatag of Ifugao, Treasurer Richard Daliyong of Kalinga, and Auditor Larimer Dulnuan of Ifugao. Also joining them are the Board of Trustees including George Ban-os (Kalinga), Rolando Bragado (Mt. Province), Marco Santiago (Benguet), Attty. King Blas Jervin Pagtailan and Jr Umipig (Abra), Freeland Columna and Roderick Paturay (Apayao), and Dan Ricky Ong (Baguio City).
Following the oath-taking, the Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE) Cordillera Officers conducted their first organizational meeting on 12 March 2026 in Baguio City. During the meeting, the Officers discussed and finalized their Constitution and By-Laws and outlined upcoming plans and activities. These activities aim to strengthen the Region’s efforts in advocating and protecting the rights of women.
In 2006, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) initiated the creation of MOVE which is an organization of men who committed to be involving in the addressing violence against women. In 2010, DSWD established its own MOVE Chapter. As of 19 March 2026, there are 166 members of DSWD FO CAR MOVE.
