From a humble family of farmers to pursuing a career abroad, Freenleen Linglingen and her family in Barangay Lenga, Tadian, Mountain Province as beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), their journey was filled with high and lows.

While her parents’ hard work remained their main source of livelihood, the program served as an added support that helped her continue pursuing her education and dream of a better future.

“My parents worked so hard for us, and the support from 4Ps helped us survive during tough times. I studied not only for myself, but for my family. I am grateful to God and to everyone who believed in me.” She said.

In 2024, Freleen graduated Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College and passed the board exam for nurses. This opened the door to her professional career and reflected her perseverance and dedication. For Freleen, becoming a registered nurse was a dream realized and a stepping stone towards greater opportunities.

Reflecting on her experience as a student, Freleen shared: “There were many times when I wanted to give up because of financial difficulties and pressure from school. But I always reminded myself why I started.”

As the eldest daughter, Freleen carried a sense of responsibility to help her family. She remained determined to succeed, drawing strength from her parents’ sacrifices and using her challenges as motivation to reach her goals. She embraced this role with courage and maturity, often putting her family’s needs before her own.

In 2025, she began her career as a nursing aid at Besao District Hospital, where she gained valuable hands-on experience and strengthened her clinical skills through real-life patient care and long, demanding shifts. Each day became a training ground that sharpened not only her competence but also her compassion as a healthcare worker, stepping beyond her comfort zone. She worked as a caregiver in Saudi Arabia, where she embraced a new culture and environment and further developed her professional career.

Beyond her academic and professional achievements, Freleen is known for her strong faith and service to others. She actively participates in outreach programs for children organized by their local church, reflecting her deep trust in God and her desire to give back to the community.

Freenleen’s story serves as an inspiration to students and young professionals alike. Her journey reminds everyone that success does not come easily—it is built through persistence, humility, and unwavering belief in one’s dreams. From the mountain rice fields to providing care beyond the country’s shores, Freleen exemplifies how education, family, faith, and the right support can collectively shape a meaningful life. //#DSWD-CAR, Social Marketing Unit, Christian Robert M.
