Baguio City—Department of Social Welfare and Development – Field Office – Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD FO CAR) joined this week’s session for the “Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas” led by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) – Cordillera. The kapihan was conducted at the field office and via livestream on 11 June 2024, focusing on the accomplishments of the Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCF) and other key programs and services of the department.

DSWD FO CAR Regional Director (RD) Maria A. Catbagan-Aplaten presented the accomplishments and ongoing initiatives of the Field Office and updates on the main programs such as Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, Disaster Risk and Management, Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Social Pension Program, among others.

Dir. Aplaten cited that the three (3) CRCFs—namely the Regional Haven for Women and Girls (RHWG), the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC), and the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY)—have already served a total of 101 clients (32 in RHWG, 33 in RSCC, 36 in RRCY) and rehabilitated 53 individuals (7 in RHWG, 28 in RSCC, 18 in RRCY).

Meanwhile, Assistant RD for Operations Enrique H. Gascon, Jr, shared that the DSWD FO CAR have infused technology and innovation into its processes to make it easier for clients and beneficiaries to receive assistance. Among these innovations include the use of a QR Code during massive pay-outs and the maintenance of a digital database that the FO CAR has dubbed as ARAMID—translated as “output”— an online portal that offers centralized access for public and internal users to all applications and systems developed by the Information and Communications Technology Section of DSWD FO CAR and has landed as Top 3 M&E Initiatives during this year’s 6th National DSWD M&E Conference.

One of the highlights of the activity was spoken poetry performance and song-number by two RRCY residents, who are expected to be discharged shortly from the center and are now looking forward to return to their respective communities, with holistic help and support from the DSWD FO CAR and their families.

“Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ipagpapatuloy namin ang aming nasimulan na pagsisilbi sa ating mga komunidad at lalo pa naming itong papaigtingin para sa ikabubuti ng lahat,” Dir. Aplaten said.”#DSWD-CAR Social Marketing Unit –Nerizza Faye G. Villanueva-Trinidad, Regional Information Officer and Christian Robert M. Sandoval, Information Officer II
